Chronic Nasal Congestion from Allergy and Allergic Rhinitis Can Be Cured with Radiofrequency (RF)

Share:

The radiofrequency technique is a minimally invasive procedure that can effectively treat chronic nasal congestion and allergy. The procedure starts with the insertion of a special needle into the turbinate, and radiofrequency will convert into thermal energy, which will be transmitted to the tissue to cause a reduction of the turbinate, allowing improved airflow of the nose.

Children with a parent who has allergies have a 30-50% chance of developing allergies themselves. If both parents have allergies, this risk increases to 50-70%.

Causes of Chronic Nasal Congestion

  • Environmental Allergens
    • PM 2.5
    • Dust
    • Pollen
    • Cockroach debris
    • Cat and dog fur
  • Enlarged Adenoids
  • Deviated Nasal Septum
  • Inflammation of nasal mucosa or sinusitis

ENT specialist will diagnose and determine the cause of chronic nasal congestion. If the medications are ineffective or the congestion is caused by an enlarged nasal turbinate, radiofrequency may be recommended. Patients typically return home within 1-2 hours after the procedure.
