Plantar fasciitis occurs when inflammation starts from the band of tissues around the heels and pain radiates to Achilles tendon. Without a proper treatment, chronic pain could develop and “heel spurs” could form.
Most people tend to tolerate when pain occurs in the bottom of their feet, because they don’t know the cause and assume it is a minor issue.
Pain in the bottom of the foot often occurs after standing or walking for a long time. Exercising, having injuries or inflammation around the bottom of the foot could also cause “Plantar Fasciitis”. The symptoms could be noticed from the following signs.
When taking the first 2-3 steps after waking up in the morning or after sitting for a long time, pain in the heels will be felt but after walking for a while, the pain will gradually fade. This could happen on and off or could become chronic. Ignoring it, may worsen the condition, depending on how the feet are being used. Inflammation will start from the band of tissues around the heels and radiates to Achilles tendon. Without a proper treatment, chronic pain could develop, causing “heel spurs” to form.
Pain in the bottom of the foot should not be ignored; a specialist’s medical attention is required. The treatment options include modifying shoes for a softer and delicate texture that have a proper fit. Treatments also comprise oral medications and physiotherapy. If initial treatment shows no result or the pain increases and becomes chronic, surgery will then be recommended to detach the plantar fascia or heel spurs. The technology used for surgery in the present days is more advanced and effective compared to the days in the past. It helps making the incision smaller and shortens the recovery period in the hospital.
