RICE therapy is the first line of treatment. R stands for REST. Continued stress can increase the damage that is done to the tissue. I is for ICE. Cold reduces the size of the blood vessels, thereby decreasing the bleeding, reducing swelling and easing pain. COMPRESSION helps reduce swelling. Lastly, ELEVATION, elevating the injured limb above the level of the heart help drain excess fluid from the area.

Professional or Amateur both can experience several injuries. Traumatic injury may affect many parts of the body, including the brain, extremities and internal organs. Sprain is a stretching or tearing of ligaments while Strain is a stretching or tearing of muscle or tendon. Concussion is a traumatic brain injury which alters the way the brain functions. Sports Medicine focuses on helping people improve their athletic performance, recover from injury and prevent future injuries. Prevention is always the best and easiest way to avoid any injury. Taking precaution is a great responsibility for both athletes and team personnel. Some athlete/team personnel lacks knowledge on how to be cautious in preventing any injury. However, in most cases they have the full knowledge yet precaution are not being practiced.

Self treatment depends on the severity of the injury. RICE therapy is considered a first-aid treatment. Rest, without rest, continual strain is placed on the affected area that may lead to increased inflammation, swelling, pain and possible further injury. Some soft tissue takes longer time to heal without rest. Ice, is the most cheapest, simplest yet effective way to manage injuries. It is an excellent anti-inflammatory in reducing swelling and pain. Compression, helps to reduce swelling and inflammation. Elevation, is a simple strategy which uses the force of gravity. It aims to reduce the swelling by increasing blood circulation. This can result to less edema which reduces the pain. First thing to note when to seek medical attention includes, pain and swelling. If there is too much pain, swelling and ambulation problem after RICE therapy Health attention should be required.

In Thailand, Soccer is the most popular sport that everyone play. A lot of injuries are sustained playing soccer whether professional or amateur.
