Currently, liver, pancreas and biliary tract diseases are still the major health problems of Thailand. The country has the widest prevalence of
hepatitis B and C in Asia, which is the leading cause of
liver cancer. The bile duct cancer rate is the highest compared other cancer types in the world. Unfortunately, many patients come to consult with a doctor when the symptoms cannot be treated or prevented, which makes the treatment less effective. To make the lives of patients with any of these diseases better, Vejthani Hospital set up a dedicated team of liver, pancreas and biliary tract specialists including physicians of gastroenterology and hepatology, surgeons specializing in the pancreas and biliary tract, radiologists, anesthesiologists and nursing specialists. This team was built in order to diagnose and treat a disease of this kind even at its early stage.
